A Prayer – OUCH!

My son Benjamin shared this with me while he was visiting recently.  I can’t remember who penned it, but he was obviously in a very good place with his God.  It’s a difficult, but necessary prayer, and I long to live it from the heart even though my flesh cries, “NO!” :)   I stuck it on the fridge so I would bump into often – don’t we moms live in the kitchen?!

“I am no longer my own, but Yours.  Put me to what You will, place me with whom You will.  Put me to doing, put me to suffering; let me be employed for You or laid aside for You, exalted for You or brought low for You.  Let me be full, let me be empty; let me have all things, let me have nothing.  I freely and heartily yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.  And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: You are mine and I am Yours.  May it be so!  And may the Covenant which I have made here on earth be confirmed in heaven.  Amen.”

Oh, that we as God’s people could become this flexible and consecrated.  I know this is the goal.  And honestly I think it’s the key to happiness in this life.  (Even though it’s gonna take a whole lot of ____ whatever it takes for you, just fill in the blank).  I really truly want to be willing.

Hope your Sunday is filled with God-life!
