…I was pacing and barking my best advice to Seth’s team on Saturday by the time the buzzer buzzed, and it was another victory. I LOVE winning! (I can be loud.) We haven’t been a part of an organized sport in years, but we’re really enjoying this easy breezy basketball league. 1 practice, 1 game every week for about 10 weeks. I can handle that. It’s competitive but not too demanding. Seth landed a super coach – he knows when to sit down and shut up and when to engage. It’s fun to watch these scrappy teens – sometimes it looks like they’re playing football, tackles and all. All the parents are pretty well-behaved. Grin.
My oldest son is a public high school basketball coach in Washington state and he is amazing. Such a father and mentor. His boys look to him with such regard…he commands their attention and has so much influence in their lives. What a trust God has given him. Coaches = power. I’m grateful for men who give their time to serve in such fathering roles in our society. We desperately need godly role models in our nation – so many young men are hungry to be led.
See ya soon.
