Travel surprises continued…

clip_image002…So to get the whole picture, understand that all 4 airplanes we rode on during our journey to Florida were packed full This is a huge plane with 3 seats on each side of the aisle.  This equals stress and delays.  The attendants were begging folks to surrender their seats for free travel passes because they were actually overbooked.  One extremely rude and overbearing passenger was an absolute imbecile and chastised a flight attendant unmercifully.  What a scene.  Cindy and I were seated in the same row on the airplanes.  She prefers the window and I prefer the aisle.  (That’s because she sleeps the entire time and her window seat ensures her the privacy she desires.  I, on the other hand, like to have the freedom to flit about as I desire – being trapped in the middle can make me crazy!  I would surely suffocate.)  That left one seat in between us.  On the first flight, we were holding our breath, hoping NO ONE sat there.  Not so lucky.  As the last of the human chain filed into the cabin, one very robust, sizeable man, presented himself at our row and announced that the seat in the middle was his.  Sigh.  He was like a bloomin’ linebacker.  He was so big, his oversized body took 1/2 of our seats, meaning we had NO ARMRESTS for four hours, praise the Lord.  However, God is in everything so as Cindy and I began to chat about our journey which includes JESUS  CHRIST he was obviously interested.  He asked if we believed in the ‘gospel’ or something.  I enthusiastically said “YES!” because I tend to be enthusiastic about every little thing in life, ESPECIALLY JESUS!  I asked him if he believed in the gospel and he was…tentative.  So I went in for the kill of course!  His name was Daniel and I began to tell him I loved his name as it was a Biblical name, etc.  He said “tell me about my name.”  So I told him about the book of Daniel and the character of Daniel and his amazing exploits as a man of God.  He said he could relate and felt the name fit him.  I relished in my opportunity to exhort him to seek the Lord!…to find Christian friends, to read God’s Word and most of all to OBEY!  I made every effort to envision him for MORE than what he was settling for.  He was sweet and humble and l..o…s…t.  He has three children ‘everywhere’ as he described, which indicated that he wasn’t fathering any of them.  It was sooo sad.  But, as I told him, my steps are ordered of the LORD and him sitting next to me was NO ACCIDENT.  In actual fact, he missed his plane that morning and ‘just happened’ to be on our plane at that very moment.  Uhuh.  No accident.  May God truly get ahold of Daniel, the linebacker from Modesto.
