6-24-2009 029 6-24-2009 028 The Pacific Northwest is glorious when the sun shines.  Glistening blue water and green growing everywhere, with snow-capped mountains in the distance creating a picturesque scene at every turn.

6-24-2009 045 I snapped these shots while I poked around last week in WA State, admiring God’s creation and drinking in the moment.  I even had a boat ride with friends,  buzzing about in the breeze while investigating the waterfront-until the rain began! 6-24-2009 053

River Rafting With The Boys This Week…

Great Fun For The Family!

…was, as one friend aptly put it, “almost relaxing”!!!  I hadn’t even unpacked my bag from being away, when it was time to head out for a lazy ride down the American River in Sacramento on a big yellow raft.  The weather was perfect: blue skies and hot sun.  We went with friends and decided that next time, the adults would be in one boat and all the kids in the other.  That way the restless children could play ‘man overboard’, ‘get the towels soaking wet’, ‘rock the boat’ and ‘irritate the siblings’ while the big people chill, eat all the good snacks, float, and soak up the sun in peace!

Need a fun recipe for Father’s Day weekend?

clip_image002Don’t forget to try my Perfect Pasta (May 28th Blog Post) recipe.  Seriously…we make it every week now with variations on veggies – we even switched the shrimp and used langostinos (sort of like itty-bitty baby lobster tails) and it was delicious. Daddy and the boys join me in the kitchen to chop everything (boys like hacking stuff with knives, let’s face it!)  Once you’ve got it down, you can have it ready from start to finish in a mere 30 minutes for real.  This note just came in from a gal who tried it last week:

Denise, This [pasta dish] was so great!  Our guests (including me) were going for 3rds and 4ths and even sent them home with some leftovers:)  Thanks for sharing your fun recipes!

photo (10) …..It’s been a whirlwind week-ette since returning from the CHOIS educator’s Convention and now I’ve dashed off to Seattle for ministry and the BIG BONUS of having some hang time with my grown sons and wives – yes, a party waitin’ to happen!  Daddy’s home with the teens and having way too much fun already without me, their resident health food freak and dietitian (think In-N-Out Burger!)…and, this very moment I’m sipping Seattle’s best hot drink – a perfect double espresso Americano with room and a dash of half n’ half…talk soon and thanks so much for all those kind words of encouragement coming in from my new Idaho friends…keep ‘fighting the good fight!’

Some Notes From My New Friends in Idaho – Praying for Fruit That Remains!

Denise,
Thank you for coming to Idaho this weekend!  I listened to you several times this weekend and you were used by God to encourage me in ways that were SO specific, only God could have known…Thank you for letting God use you in a mighty way this weekend.  Our family has been changed in a “kingdom” signifcant way.  God bless you! -C in Idaho-

Denise – it was a pleasure to hear your heart this weekend! Thanks for giving to us! I was contemplating sending my 2 older kiddos to public school for a year to work on me and some issues God has been showing me. It felt overwhelming and like something had to give. BUT, but, but, after hearing your speak and others I am laser focused on educating my kiddos at home. Thank you for helping me see there’s a lot more at stake than just me. Something will have to give in my life for God to do his purpose in me, but it won’t be educating my children elsewhere. I was blessed to be at the conference and was so encouraged by the truth God gave you to speak. Thank you for being obedient. Your obedience had an impact on me and the future of our homeschooling! Keep it up sis! -J in Idaho –

Denise,

I’m also here to thank you for coming to Idaho this weekend!  I also listened to your heartfelt words several times and God has finally broken through to me about changes and directions that I need to make for myself and with the way I teach my kids and I’m so excited about that.  We too want to be a “kingdom” family and I’m going to do all I can to take us further in that direction.  Thank you for allowing God to work through you in this way even though I know you missed your earthly family a great deal!-J in Idaho-

Conference is over. Time to exhale.  I cannot tell a lie. I am sitting here eating nothing less than a scrumptious, glazed, melt-in-your-mouth, angel soft Krispy Kreme donut heated for 14 seconds to perfection!  And yes, you guessed it, a nice, strong cup of coffee with cream.  Sigh.  I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting up with a Krispy Kreme in years.  Delectable.  Next, I’ll check in online for my flight home to the fam.  It’s a very Happy Sunday for momma!
